Volunteers Volunteers

You can help us better serve our children and their families.

Here is how:

  • Write Letters
Volunteers can work with older children to assist them in writing letters to their incarcerated parents. This is usually done in a small group setting.
  • Field Trips
Volunteers can chaperone children on field trips to local activities.
  • Mentoring
Volunteers can mentor our children with one-on-one contact and provide them with positive experiences.
Any adult over 21 years of age with no criminal record can apply to be a volunteer.

To apply, call our toll free number, 1 - 888 - 757-KIDZ (5439), and select the Care Coordination Center closest to you. Once connected, ask for the Children of Inmates Care Coordinator and say you want to volunteer.

After applying, you will need to complete an application and undergo an interview. If selected, we will conduct a background check required of all our employees and volunteers who work with children.

Finally, there will be training. All our volunteers receive training about our program, about working with children of incarcerated parents, and about the specific jobs they will perform.
